On average, Raleigh residents produce 3,750 tons of garbage per week during the holiday period. To help reduce the amount of waste taken to the landfill, the City's Solid Waste Services Department and Raleigh Recycling are encouraging residents to follow several holiday waste reduction tips (pdf). Video

City Set To Go To Single-Stream Recycling
The City will transition to single-stream recycling collection beginning Thursday, Jan. 1. The change will mean that collection crews will no longer need to sort recyclable materials between paper products and containers, meaning that crews will be able to cover more ground during their shifts.
Workshops On Draft Of Comp Plan Update Jan. 13-15
The City of Raleigh will hold three public workshops in January on the draft of the Comprehensive Plan update. The citywide public workshops will allow citizens to review the plan, ask questions and provide input.
