As Chief of Police, I’d like to welcome you to our Web site. I am extremely proud of the dedication and expertise our police officers and civilian police professionals bring to our Department on a daily basis, and I am pleased you are taking the time to visit this site to learn more about their efforts.
Raleigh is a dynamic and growing city. Our population increase has been steady and grew by three percent last year, bringing the total population to 385,507 and earning Raleigh the designation of being the 48th largest city in the U. S. In 2008, it was ranked #1 on Forbes Magazine’s “Best Places for Business and Careers” list – and that’s just one of the latest in a long list of top rankings.

Police Performance Survey
We are conducting a survey for the RAND Corporation to find out how people feel about police services. This is part of a larger federal study by the Justice Department to develop new ways to measure police performance. This survey will take just ten minutes, and your answers will help the Police Department to do a better job of serving the community. Your participation in these interviews is completely voluntary and will not affect any services you get from the police department or any ongoing court case you may have. If you participate, the information you provide will be used only for statistical purposes: Your name will not included on the survey form and will never be used in any report. Your participation in this survey is greatly appreciated!
