The Mayor’s Unity Day sponsored by the City of Raleigh Human Relations Commission will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center, 500 S. Salisbury St.
The 2010 U.S. Census will be a main topic of the event. Mitchell Silver, director of the City of Raleigh’s Planning Department, will lead a discussion on demographic changes expected for Raleigh and the country. Specifically, Mr. Silver and other local experts will talk about challenges brought on by aging, diversity and socio-economic factors. The audience also will be asked to participate in discussions at individual tables to suggest solutions the Human Relations Commission can present to the City Council for its consideration.
