I advise you to look for a job in the States in advance. You can start by adapting your resume and LinkedIn page to suit your local marketplace. You can find many articles and webinars about this. You can also hire a career coach to prepare for the interview in English. It helped me a lot.
In addition, if your profession allows you to work as a freelancer for the first time, use it! It gave me a tremendous sense of calm for the first few months.
I knew that while I was looking for a permanent job, I have a couple of clients who bring in a good income.
And don’t be afraid to start learning new things. Six months later in San Francisco, I began to realize that my marketing skills are not as in demand here as my talent in design, as well as in understanding how to create user friendly products.
Local friends already in the USA pushed me to the idea that if I get an education here in a more popular field, it will make me stronger in interviews. So later I went to study for the program at UC Berkeley in UX / UI Design. And so far it was my best decision during the move. It turned out to be insanely cool to feel like a student in a new country again. Plus, to get exactly the kind of knowledge required by the local labor market.
